Sarah Dowd, EdD, LPC
Dr. Sarah Dowd (she/her) is a licensed professional counselor with expertise working with athletes, sport administrators, coaches, and teams. Since 2019, she has provided clinical services to elite athletes and teams. As a clinician, she works with clients to expand their self- and other-awareness, identify barriers to their well-being and/or performance, and understand personal strengths and strategies for overcoming identified obstacles. She works collaboratively with clients, in pursuit of peak well-being and performance goals. Her areas of clinical interest include stress management, competition preparedness, performance anxiety, athletic identity, psychological safety, communication, group cohesion, interpersonal challenges, and serving rural populations.
Dr. Dowd received her BA in psychology and MSEd in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Youngstown State University while competing as an Academic All-American student-athlete. Dr. Dowd received her EdD in Sport and Performance Psychology from the University of Western States.
Dr. Dowd is a member of the Clinical/Counseling Sport Psychology Association (CCSPA), Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), American Counseling Association, and the American College Counseling Association. Dr. Dowd is listed as a provider in the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee’s mental health registry.
