Dr. Michelle Garvin

Clinical and Sport Psychologist & Owner

Dr. Michelle Garvin is the owner and founder of Elite Performance Psychology.  She is a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise and experience working with athletes, performers, teams and organizations.

 

 Dr. Garvin is the Team Clinician/Mental Skills Specialist for the Detroit Lions.  Prior to her work with the Lions, she was the Director of Clinical and Sport Psychology at the University of Maryland where she built a comprehensive Sport Psychology Program for intercollegiate athletes.

Dr. Garvin received her BA in psychology from Princeton University and her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the George Washington University.  Dr. Garvin is a member of the Clinical/Counseling Sport Psychology Association (CCSPA), the American Psychological Association (and Division 47 of APA) and the Association for Applied Sport Psychology. Dr. Garvin is listed as a provider in the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee's (USOPC) Mental Health registry to serve Team USA athletes.

Shana Jones
Licensed Counselor/Mental Performance

Shana Jones is a mental performance coach and licensed mental health professional in MD. Her expertise lies in training athletes and performers evidenced-based mental skills to address topics including performance anxiety, stress management, injury rehabilitation, team cohesion, competition preparedness, athletic identity, and energy management.

Shana works part-time as a mental performance coach at The University of Maryland College Park. There she leads group and individual development with athletes from the following sports: golf, soccer, football, volleyball, baseball, softball, wrestling, lacrosse, field hockey, tennis, gymnastics, basketball, and track and field. Shana graduated from The University of Maryland with a B.S. in psychology. She later went on to earn her Master’s degree (M.Ed) in counseling with a specialization in sport and performance psychology from Boston University. With Elite Performance Psychology Shana is available for individual meetings as well as team/group consulting.

Megan Guresh

Mental Health/Mental Performance Therapist

Megan Guresh is an experienced mental health and mental performance provider who works with athletes and performers to help them achieve peak well-being and performance. 

 

Prior to Elite Performance Psychology, Megan worked extensively with Division I collegiate athletes providing both mental health and mental performance services to individuals and teams as part of the clinical and sports psychology teams at Texas Tech University and The University of Maryland.  Megan specializes in working with female athletes and performers and has comprehensive experience working with women’s teams and individuals in field hockey, soccer, volleyball, track and field, golf, tennis, softball, basketball and lacrosse.

 

Megan earned her undergraduate degree from The University of Maryland where she also participated in women’s track and field.  She earned a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Villanova University and a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Texas Tech University, where she trained under the Associate AD for Psychological Health and Performance.  Megan is a licensed mental health practitioner in the state of Maryland.

Kathryn Rowe

Licensed Counselor/Mental Performance

Kathryn Rowe joined the staff of the Orioles in 2019 as the Mental Skills Coordinator for the MiLB. In addition, to working with the Orioles, she has been a Mental Skills Contractor for the United States Naval Academy, as well as University of Maryland College Park. Prior to her move to Baltimore she served 3 seasons as the Mental Skills Coach for the men’s soccer program at her alma mater, the University of Rochester.  Kathryn utilizes mental skills techniques to help players/teams learn how to reach peak performance as consistently as possible. 

 

Kathryn graduated from UR with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Brain and Cognitive Sciences, where she also was a member of the Women's Soccer team for all four years. Rowe earned her master’s in Counseling with a concentration in Sport Psychology from Boston University. She is a licensed mental health professional in both NY and MD. She also is an AASP Certified Mental Performance Consultant.
